I came across an article the other day that combined two of my favorite things—travel and fitness—and I knew the ACF community would love it. Seriously, who doesn’t love the idea of staying active and seeing the world?
Do you enjoy travel?
Maybe you’ve been waiting for this stage of life to explore more, get out there, and experience new things?
A group called Road Scholar—an educational travel organization for adults over 50—is gearing up for a big summer. Whether you’re traveling with them, on your own, or with friends, they’re all about embracing the adventure in aging. Their new Age Adventurously Report hit home for me, especially with its message around confidence, movement, and making aging your next great adventure.
One quote that stood out:
“It’s waking up every day believing there are still new things to discover and experience… and not putting anything off you want to do.” – Ruth Riggs, 70
Their survey of adults 50–98 found that 94% believe being curious and positive leads to greater health and happiness. That’s a message we fully believe in at ACF.
The best part? The No. 1 thing people value as they age isn’t just travel—it’s staying physically active and healthy.
82% of respondents ranked it above travel and learning new skills.
We’re seeing it firsthand every day at the gym:
- People training to hike and kayak
- Grandparents keeping up with grandkids
- Folks building strength and confidence to live on their terms
Whether it’s running around the yard, climbing stairs at a national park, or just feeling good on your next trip, strength gives you options.
So here’s your challenge: On June 8—Age Adventurously Day—do something out of your comfort zone. Something fun. Something active. Something you.
Because no matter your age, it’s never too late to stretch your travel muscles and keep discovering what you’re capable of.
