The Truth About Motivation

Motivation. It’s something I get asked about a lot. How do you stay motivated all the time?

The truth? I don’t.

I hear this word a lot when talking with prospective clients. People say they need motivation to get started, to keep going, to stay on track. But here’s the thing—motivation comes and goes.

At the start of the year, motivation is at an all-time high. New Year’s Resolutions, fresh starts, big goals. But 92% of people fail at their resolutions because motivation alone isn’t enough.

There are plenty of days when I don’t want to work out, follow up on leads, or clean the gym. I’m human. I like to sit on the couch, watch TV, and eat pizza and ice cream. But I don’t rely on motivation.

Instead, I rely on three things: habits, mindset, and accountability.

Habits.
Habits don’t form overnight. Most people quit their resolutions before a habit even takes root. Many bounce between fitness and weight loss programs without sticking with one long enough to build consistency. Habits take practice. You have to keep showing up, keep watering the seed, and eventually, it becomes second nature. That day you want to sleep in and skip the gym? Your habit kicks in, and you go anyway.

Mindset.
Mindset isn’t just about fake positivity—it’s about playing the “What If” game in a way that serves you. What if you do that workout? You’ll feel better after. What if you clean the house? You’ll be glad you did. What if you follow through on the tasks you’ve been putting off? You’ll move closer to your goals. Not everything in life is groundbreaking. In fact, the best in the world master the boring stuff. Consistency beats novelty every time.

Accountability.
This is where ACF shines. You schedule your sessions, you meet with a coach, and if you’re not here for a week—we check in. We text, video message, call, and email. We send every form of communication because we know that having someone hold you accountable is far more powerful than relying on motivation alone.

Motivation is a great spark, but it’s not a lasting fuel source. If you want real results, focus on building habits, shifting your mindset, and surrounding yourself with accountability.
