Summer is fun, but let’s be honest—it throws a lot of people off their routine. Vacations, BBQs, and relaxed schedules can lead to missed workouts, looser eating habits, and feeling a little out of sync. If you’re in that boat, the good news is that fall is the perfect time to reset.
One of the biggest mistakes people make is thinking they need to “start over” after a few inconsistent weeks. You don’t. Fitness isn’t all-or-nothing. A few weeks off doesn’t erase the progress you’ve made, but staying off track longer will. The key is to rebuild momentum, not aim for perfection.
Start small. Commit to your next workout, not an entire 6-week overhaul. At ACF, scheduling your workout makes it way more likely to happen! The hardest part is showing up, and once you do, it gets easier. If you’ve been inconsistent, focus on frequency first, intensity second. Get back in the habit of moving, and the rest will follow.
Dial in your nutrition without overcomplicating it. No crash diets, no extreme meal plans. Just start by eating more protein, drinking more water, and getting some fiber from fruits and veggies. Cut back on the summer splurges, but don’t stress over every meal. Consistency wins, not extremes.
Take advantage of the fall season. The weather is cooler, routines are back, and summer distractions are winding down. This is one of the best times to build consistency because there’s structure in place. It’s easier to meal prep when you’re home more, and workouts can become part of a steady schedule.
Set one realistic goal for the next 30 days. Maybe it’s hitting three workouts per week, walking 10,000 steps a day, or cooking more meals at home. Whatever it is, make it specific and achievable. Trying to do everything at once usually leads to burnout. Focus on one thing at a time, and let that momentum build.
If you’re feeling off track, don’t wait for the “perfect time” to start again. That time is right now. Reset, refocus, and get back to feeling your best.
