One thing I see every summer is people putting way too much weight on one weekend.
They go away for a couple days, have some different meals, maybe miss a workout, sleep a little less, and then come back feeling like they ruined all their progress.
But that’s not how this works.
One weekend doesn’t ruin anything.
A few cookouts don’t erase your strength.
A vacation doesn’t undo months of showing up.
A few imperfect days don’t mean you’re back at square one.
What matters most is what you do next.
That’s where people either stay in it or start drifting.
And I get it. It’s easy to come back after a busy weekend and think, “I’ll get back on track tomorrow.”
Then tomorrow turns into next week.
Then next week turns into the end of the month.
That’s why the next choice matters so much.
Not because it has to be perfect, but because it keeps you connected.
There’s a reason we talk so much about strength training two to three times per week and staying active outside the gym. It’s not because every single week will be perfect. It’s because those habits give you something to come back to.
Come in for your workout.
Go for a walk.
Eat a normal meal.
Drink water.
Get back to the basics.
You don’t need to punish yourself for enjoying your life.
You don’t need to “make up for it.”
You just need to return to the things that help you feel good.
That’s what consistency really looks like.
It’s not never getting thrown off.
It’s getting back to it without making it a whole dramatic restart.
So if this weekend was a little off, no big deal.
Get back in here this week and keep going.
