A lot of people eat a breakfast that barely holds them until mid-morning.

Maybe it is toast, cereal, a muffin, or coffee and nothing else.

Then 10:30 rolls around, energy drops, hunger kicks in, and whatever is easiest starts looking pretty good.

One of the simplest ways to make breakfast work harder for you is to add more protein.

Protein helps support muscle repair and maintenance, which becomes especially important as we get older. It can also make meals more filling and help you feel a little more satisfied through the morning.

That does not mean breakfast needs to become a complicated meal-prep project.

Keep it simple.

Eggs with fruit and toast.

Greek yogurt with berries.

Cottage cheese and fruit.

A protein smoothie.

Overnight oats made with Greek yogurt or protein powder.

And there is no rule saying breakfast has to look like breakfast. Leftovers with a good protein source work just fine.

The goal is not to create the perfect meal.

It is to make one small change that helps you feel better and gives your body something useful.

For adults over 40, 50, and 60, strength training and nutrition work together. Lifting weights gives your muscles a reason to stay strong. Eating enough protein helps support the repair and rebuilding process.

That is why we talk about both at Adam Clark Fitness in Brewer, Maine.

You do not need an extreme diet.

You do not need to eat perfectly.

You just need a few simple habits you can repeat.

Pick two or three breakfast options you actually like and keep the ingredients in the house. Make the decision before you are hungry and rushing out the door.

Tomorrow morning, add a real source of protein to breakfast and pay attention to how you feel a few hours later.

Sometimes the best nutrition changes are not dramatic.

They are just easier to repeat.
