Getting Active in Summer Time!

It’s summertime! Hard to believe, but warm weather is here, and it’s time to make the most of it.

When it comes to summer workouts, I’d love for everyone to train with us 4-5 times per week—but I know that’s not always realistic. Summer means more time outside, travel, and shifting schedules, which can make it harder to get to the gym.

The good news? You can stay active and enjoy summer at the same time. Here are five great ways to keep moving while soaking up the season:

1. Hiking – Maine is full of incredible trails, and you could explore a new one every day this summer. Hiking is a fantastic way to get outside, enjoy nature, and get a great workout. Need trail ideas? Check out some in the Bangor area!

2. Running & Biking – A great way to burn calories and get fresh air. Road races might not be back in full swing, but that doesn’t mean you can’t set a personal challenge. Let me know if you’re interested—we can organize a running or biking challenge!

3. Swimming – Maine summers don’t last long, so take advantage of the water while you can. Whether it’s a lake, pool, or ocean, swimming is one of the best low-impact, full-body workouts you can do.

4. Pickleball & Tennis – Pickleball is taking over, and for good reason! It’s a fun, social, and effective way to stay active. There are plenty of games happening in the area, and if tennis is more your style, that’s another great way to get outside and move.

5. Golf – It may not seem like an intense workout, but if you walk the course and swing a club 100+ times, you’re burning calories and staying active. Plus, it’s a great way to enjoy the outdoors.

Bonus: Bodyweight Workouts – Strength and core work are just as important as cardio. You don’t need equipment to get a great workout—check out some quick circuits on our YouTube Channel to keep up with your strength training wherever you are.

Enjoy summer, stay active, and if you need help sticking to your goals, we’ve got you covered at ACF!
