Stretching has become the green juice of fitness—everyone talks about it, nobody really wants to do it, and it’s probably not fixing all the problems people think it is.
Yes, some stretching is helpful (and honestly, this is your friendly reminder that I need to do more of it too). But you don’t need to spend 30 minutes rolling around on the floor like a human pretzel to feel good or move well.
What works better?
✅ Full range of motion strength training – yes, squats count.
✅ Dynamic warmups before your workouts.
✅ Mobility work in small doses when something feels off.
✅ Daily movement—not just sitting all day and hoping stretching fixes it.
Stretching is just one piece of the puzzle. The real secret to feeling better is consistency—moving regularly, training smart, and paying attention to your body.
So if your post-workout cool-down is five minutes long and doesn’t involve candles, yoga mats, and spa music? That’s okay. You’re doing just fine.
Train smart. Move well. And stop beating yourself up for not being a flexibility ninja.
